He got called into duty yesterday. I just texted him and got his take. He said the people are desensitized due to media hype over the years but they (emergency personnel) now this one is the real deal.

He lives in Santa Rosa Beach, west of Panama City, so his home isn't in the direct path but the family left for Alabama anyway.
