Probably not. Actually, Tom Herman is a prototype for whom we should be looking
Here is his resumé

1999–2000
Texas (GA)

2001–2004
Sam Houston State (WR/ST)

2005–2006
Texas State (OC/QB)

2007–2008
Rice (OC/QB)

2009–2011
Iowa State (OC/QB)

2012–2014
Ohio State (OC/QB)

2015–2016
Houston

2017–present
Texas
Head coaching record

Key is success as an OC at a big time program or at the pro level. I would also take HC at a very successful smaller program. That is attainable. Coach Reid is not attainable.

Once Herman was successful at Houston he was over our heads. We have to find them before that. But he was probably attainable as an Ohio St OC. For sure as an Iowa St OC.

Sitake was a bad choice for a lot of reasons, tho the main one is that at any level, he had never been successful on his own. Neither has Grimes. Neither did Detmer. Neither did Doman. Anae I would argue did and would’ve been a far better choice.

We have options. We just don’t have the options Texas does.
