be taught by reading, such as science and math. Obviously, this depends on the learner, some of whom are more oriented toward learning by reading.
Scripture study is not a good example. There is a lot of good done by individual scripture reading, but there is also much good done in society-building, which necessarily includes conversation and give-and-take. This is the role of Sunday School classes, Priesthood quorums, and such. They do not replace individual study, but augment it by adding another important dimension. The social aspect of scripture study is arguably more important than the personal aspect; I think it's a pretty easy argument to make.
