I have only been able to attend the Utah State game this season, but I noticed in that game that on numerous occasions, the defensive line of Utah State would stand right over the ball and seem to be listening intently as Mangum was reciting the play to the huddle. given that he was facing the defense and was less than 10 yards away from the ball, I wondered if they were able to hear anything that was useful.
I know that back in the 80s, the QB used to stand in the huddle with his back to the ball but now it's reversed. When it's a home game and the crowd is naturally quieter when we have the ball, I wonder if there's a risk of giving something away.
