View this post on Instagram This picture was taken 1 year ago .. I weighed 150 pounds and had never been so depressed in my life. I lived on Snicker Bars and 30 minutes of sleep a night. I spent hours and hours talking to 4 different lawyers daily always questioning ‘what now?’. I would lock myself in my room and drive hours upon hours in the middle of night listening to music to try and keep myself alive and functioning .. ⏭ Fast forward 1 year and I am back to myself in every aspect of life physically and mentally. I have never been happier and I have gained my weight back and weigh 195 pounds. I gave up on life when I withdrew from school and basketball. I locked myself in a room and wouldn’t talk to anybody. I’d stare at a wall for hours wondering if I even wanted to live. I’ve never been a quitter, that’s not me. I promised myself I’d do anything and everything to get back to myself and not let those people affect me anymore. It was the HARDEST thing I’ve ever done. I made it through something I thought would be impossible to get through. Im grateful for those people for doing what they did to me and my loved ones. Why? Because it has strengthened me to become a better person and treat everyone as a real human being. It has strengthened those relationships I have. We all have a story. Whatever situation you are facing in life right now .. keep pushing forward! I’m grateful for the people who stood by me every step of the way and know me for who I really am. I am so grateful for BYU, my coaches and teammates, and the administration for believing in me. I can’t wait to be out there playing again. I hope my story will help someone going through something hard! You are NOT alone .. you will get through your trial. I’m not writing this for self pity, I am writing this because life is great and you can do it no matter how high the mountain may seem! There is ALWAYS a way out .. Keep believing and please NEVER. GIVE. UP. I promise you it will get better 🙏🏼 A post shared by Nick Emery (@nickemery04) on Nov 7, 2018 at 10:08pm PST
