Oregon is a top 20 program right now ... I have not seen this kid in person, but

from the write-ups by people that know basketball, the offer list, the multiple ranking services, the highlight videos (limited value), this is a significant miss by BYU. We don't have a lot of consensus top 50 LDS recruits.  The argument that 6'11, 16-17-year-old kid got pushed around by 200 lb football players means very little as far as long term development goes.  The kid has big upside - who knows if he does well or not, but I would have loved BYU to get him.  I know the family has ties to the state of Oregon and I don't think they are BYU bred (dad played at Utah State), so I am not surprised by this. Especially considering the state of BYU's program and our stellar streak of putting players into ... foreign professional leagues.
