Rose is a players coach that has struggled recruiting for 8 years now
Rose needs talent to be a good coach, because we all know he is not an x and o type coach.

There can be coaches who have a good system and recruit the right personnel for that system. Rose really doesn’t have a “system”. If he did, last year would have not happened. He 100% let Schroyer come in and basically be in control. And we saw how that turned out Scout halfway through last season.

His talent recruiting pool has really dropped off. There is always “potential” in the young guys, but he really needs to play them more.

Look at the talent of the top 6 players in 2010 vs. this team:

Jimmer
Davies
Hartsock
Abouo
Collinsworth
Emery

4 players are still playing pro ball somewhere

Now this team:

Childs
Haws
Hardnett
Nixon
Seljaas
Worthington
(Emery)

Childs has the only pro potential

When you look at these rosters, though....today’s team with Baxter and Harding, is a little more deep, just less talented, but enough talent.

I just think our coaches could do better and also rose needs to recruit more pro potential....even if it’s China, Italy or Israel pro.

I have always been hard on Rose for not winning a tourney championship in his entire BYU career. I think that is a huge deal.

Before jimmer, roses teams were better coached than they are now, and had better chemistry, and won multiple regular season championships.

But, we know rose will probably never coach a team to a tourney championship, ever. He’s just not that great of an in-game coach. He rarely calls opportune time outs. He lets the players play, almost a little too much to their detriment.

Then, More so than we would like to see, players are leaving early or are transferring.

Then, who does rose hire after Schroyer leaves.....he promotes cummard.

And to top it off, the WCC is a one team race every year and it is getting old and tired.

We should have a lot more support at the wcc tourney that there is, but that is a yearly pilgrimage for zag fans who have completely taken over the orleans arena. That place is more home court advantage for the zags than unlv was at their court at the Thomas and Mack.

This is just a long rambling because I love BYU basketball. It really for the most part, has been a slow kill ever since jimmer left.

I miss winning an occasional championship. We are Indy in football, and in basketball, Gonzaga has legitimately turned into duke-west.

It has been extremely tough being a BYU fan in this decade in all sports.
