money. Texas, Alabama, Ohio St, USC type schools. There are so many schools that are simply lucky to be in a P5 conference and don’t deserve the status of comparison. Schools like Washington St, Oregon St, Vanderbilt, Kansas, TCU, Rutgers, Utah. Not enough people care about them and they don’t generate enough interest unless they are having a special year.

Then there are the schools that deserve to be on an equal footing or even better than some of those that are P5. UCF, Houston, BYU.

Clearly there’s envy. BYU’s in the field performance isn’t P5 worthy in the last decade to be included on that merit but if everyone is being honest that’s not the reason someone is P5 and someone isn’t P5.

Bottom line a few big schools are being underpaid and quite a few are being overpaid. And a few more deserve a little more than they are currently getting.
