I like the team because the talent is simply improving.  Mostly on the bottom half of the roster.  The positions are all competitive and the coaches are getting the best players on the field.  For example, I was impressed with how the Mangum/Wilson situation played out.  No drama.  Just a change when it was the right time.  Here's what makes me optimistic:

1.  Young talented QB.  I really liked Wilson's arm, and his head.  He will very good for us.

2. Yount talented OL.  This group had their bad moments this year.  But they had many more good moments.  They will be good for a while since we started so many freshmen and sophomores on the line.

3.  Defense has been good.  Finished top 25 this year.  Looked very bad against Washington and Utah State, but other than that, they were very impressive.

4.  Secondary is looking solid and deep.  Thought the young Cornerbacks were very impressive.  We had season-ending injuries to our starting corners.  Both Greene and Wilcox went down.  Yet that group of freshmen were stride for stride with the Ute and Boise receivers.  They played very well and got some valuable experience.

The team talent-wise is better than 5 years ago.  We don't have the top players like Taysom and Jamaal, but the team is deeper and more solid.  The recruiting hasn't changed much, but we seem to be doing more with the players.
