I wanted to share a milestone with y'all. Its a little bit of a facebookish post. Hopefully it will help motivate
and or get someone on here to start thinking about their health.

I know I can come off as a gym bro and oftentimes I do that to be funny but I am a proponent of people taking control of their lives and fitness because I have seen the benefits first hand. 4 Years ago today I had a Sleeve Gastrectomy done. Its a weight loss procedure that essentially cuts your stomach down into the shape of a banana but doesn't re-arrange your plumbing like a gastric bypass does. I had this done because I was 412 pounds and unhappy with my life and where it was going. I was a sad sack 23-year old who had been the fat kid his entire life. I didn't go on dates, I wasnt able to serve a mission (though I tried to get in shape and unlike others wasnt willing to lie on my application). I had graduated BYU and wasnt happy with my life.

Well, 4 years later to the day I am down to 229 pounds (with about 35 more to go). There have been plateaus and hard days along the way. Lots of early mornings. lots refusing food that I really thought would be good to eat, lots of tracking, lots of swallowing my pride or willing to look foolish as I workout, but I can say that it has been worth it.

I just wanted to say that if you have the goal to lose weight this year or get in better shape or put on muscle or whatever Cougarboard can be a great place to come for advice and support. If you have fallen off the wagon already with your resolution you are absolutely capable of starting again and seeing it thru. It is hard and sometimes discouraging but its worth it. Stick with it for your good and for the good of the people you care about and those who care about you. Lots of people on the board are willing to help hold you accountable or give advice that you can apply (and do what works for you). If you don't want to talk on the main board feel free to shoot me or others a BM. You never know what good it may ultimately do.

All in all, consistency is key. You need to consistently eat right, consistently train, consistently track what you are doing and eating which will allow you to have more discipline and grow. Remember this, Its never too late to start being consistent and start getting better. I have gone from dying while working out 20 min a day to working out for 2.5 hours or more per day. Im not saying you have to go all out but you are capable of making the time and finding ways to get better.

Now because people say "pics or it didnt happen" ill provide these. I may out myself in real life with these pics so if you know me please don't reveal my identity to the board but feel free to shoot me a BM.

Me 4 ish years ago (in a spoiler because its a bad picture both in quality and how it makes me feel)

Me this morning (it's in a spoiler tag since I'm shirtless and as TNT says this is a family board, that being said nothing inappropriate is showing (unless you count how white I am) and it's tasteful)
