For purposes of this thread, I'm specifically excluding holiday albums and musical/theater albums.
Also, there are essentially two types of cover albums: 1) Where an artist/band releases an album consisting solely of covers of other artists/bands and 2) Where a number of artists/bands together release an album of covers of a single artist/band (also known as a "tribute album").
I'm more interested in the first.
My favorite cover album is by Shaw Blades (Tommy Shaw from Styx, and Jack Blades from Night Ranger). The album is called Influence. It's on Apple Music, but not Spotify. Released in 2007, it covers songs from Seals and Croft, Yes, Simon and Garfunkel and more. The full track list is here:
