At Miami the rowing coaches would literally scour the campus for girls to row
Any girl who showed promise got at least half of a scholarship (the limit is 20). At Miami it is considered a relatively cheap sport with a bunch of scholarships to balance out the football scholarships.
As a side note, the ratio of high school athletes to scholarships nationally for rowers is 2:1. So if you want your daughter to earn a scholarship, put her in rowing.
