The thing is, this town is OBSESSED with college football. Even for games that don’t involve the B1G at all Columbus is typically in the top ten for ratings. Do people here care about BYU or Utah? No of course not. But in general people do seem to cheer for them in neutral games, and you guys and the PAC-12 get seen a lot here because they are usually on late at night when the B1G games are over. Both are seen as under dogs vs historic P5 programs, and then is a bit of a special place in our heart for BYU because of Gordon, and Utah since they beat Bama, and Urb coached there. We also seem to have a fair amount of BYU students in our professional schools. There were at least ten or so in my dental school class a few years ago. We are also generally annoyed with the Big 12 for the drama they create every year so we wanted them to just expand and get it over with.
