But so does every place else. Every school can point to certain things that are attractive. They all have cute girls. Many have amazing locales. Many have awesome stadiums and practice facilities. And most of those are exactly as good as, or better than, BYU at basketball.

My point is that the HC is this one unique thing that BYU has to confront that no other school has to confront. When San Diego State goes after a recruit, they can say, awesome fan base, awesome facilities, awesome locale, and whatever else they've developed to put in their pitch. Plus... it's not a mormon school, and it doesn't have an HC. Same goes for so many schools. They'll all have their pitch, and they'll sound great for their own reasons.
And they're not tied to a specific sort-of weird religion and don't demand that you live as though you are a member of that religion (even though you're not).

BYU has advantages over some schools for sure. But the HC and the status as a "mormon school" are disadvantages that are huge that no one else has to deal with.
