She was a very nice person, we hung out quite a bit and I even went to Sunday dinner at her place a few times. Her parents are salt of the earth people and she comes from an awesome family. They welcomed me in their home and were extremely kind, but even then I remember liberal political discussions at the dinner table. Although she was very progressive back then, she was more focused on helping the downtrodden. For example, her mom was the DA in charge of prosecuting the BYU football players involved in the gang rape. I think her original intent was correct in terms of wanting to know why women can't have the Priesthood, but since then she is understandably quite angry. I also feel bad because her parents are no longer LDS (I think they may have been Exed or at least asked to have their names removed).

I understand some of the angst towards her because she causes a lot of trouble and is very antagonistic towards Mormons and conservatives and men, but I share this to say that I think some of this is an act/online persona to stir things up and get followers, and that in real life she was once a very nice person and probably still is in real life, though I don't know that for a fact.
