Managed correctly, $2M is easily enough to raise a family. Remember that it's tax free, and it will be earning interest
if managed right. At 5% interest, you could pull over 110K per year for 40 years (I think I did my math right). Considering this is tax free (the lump sum, not the interest earned). That's the equivalent of well over $120K per year. I think a spouse could be comfortable with that amount.
