My son had an auto acceptance this year...
and didn’t take it. I wouldn’t have felt guilty if he had. He had a PWO football offer from BYU which comes with an automatic acceptance as long as a kid meets the minimum requirements that scholarship athletes must meet, which is considerably lower than standard students. My son was not a minimum requirements kid, he has good grades and test scores, but he would have been an unlikely admittance if not for being an athlete.

But if he had wanted to accept that offer and the automatic admittance that came with it I would not have felt the least bit guilty about it. He would have contributed a lot to that school, just as I’m sure your son will/would if he goes there. There are people that get accepted into colleges all of the time for much worse reasons than those.
