My wife had leukemia and a bone marrow transplant a few years ago. We had to
rely on the herd immunity for a couple of years while her immune system got back to full strength. It scared us to death to go anywhere during that time due to the anti-vax sentiment that was hitting its stride. She actually contracted the chicken pox during this time and ended up in the hospital for about a week - and she has lasting implications because of it. I can't tell you for sure that this was because of people not not vaccinating for the chicken pox, but I'm sure it didn't help.

Please, if you think that not vaccinating your kids is a decision that only affects you, know that it doesn't. It affects everyone, and you are making choices that negatively affect others.
