RPI ranking is 20 points higher than NET.

Current RPI ranking = 56 (source)

Current net ranking = 76 (source)

RPI is truely score/game performance agnostic.  The only factors are wins and losses.  So that leads me to belive that the main reason we are 20 points lower is because of the blowout losses to the likes of gonzaga, miss state, Saint Mary, etc.. bad losses like weber, unlv, illinois st, etc... are factors in both formulas.

From NCAA's website:(source)

""In addition, a cap of 10 points was applied to the winning margin to prevent rankings from encouraging unsportsmanlike play"

This is a Farce!  While the formula is not published, this is what is published:

"relies on game results, strength of schedule, game location, scoring margin, net offensive and defensive efficiency, and the quality of wins and losses"

I'm sure the margin of victory is capped at 10 points, However, based on the descrepancy, it appears there is not a limit on net offensive and defensive efficiency.  Which is essientally the same thing as margin of victory presened on a per possession basis.

Every team should try to run up the score to get a better ranking.

It makes a big difference.  56 is ncaa bubbly.  Probably could get in with wins over non-gonzaga teams.  76 is NIT bubbly, probably with no chance for at large... only maybe with an @gonzaga win. Why did we have to change away from RPI this year?? *gnashing of teeth*
