Eh, it's not a zero sum game. He still has to interview well, have a good resume
I don't believe the dilution is a major issue.

For employers often it isn't about the school. You still have to interview and make a good presentation of yourself.

For grad schools they know the difference and take that into account and there is still standardized testing.

It doesn't take long for employers to not care about the academic rigors you had in college compared to your work product.
