I'm not here to throw out stats, but I find these 3 guys intriguing because they have 4 things in common. All 3 are LDS, served missions, played high school ball in Utah, and are starters for their respective teams (Emery for the most part throughout his college career). I have watched all 3 play on more than one occasion especially Haws and Emery because I'm a BYU fan, but judging by the eye test, I wish Haws and Emery were more like Merrill. For how good Merrill is, he let's the game come to him. He never tried to force the issue, and he's good at taking what the defense gives him. Haws and Emery at times are good at letting the game come to them, but old habits of forcing the issue often plagues them which reared its ugly head vs USF. Haws was trying to do too much. Merrill is cool and collective and really analyzes the game well and how to execute the cards given him. Just wish Haws and Emery can be more like that.
