Traction aids (south of the ZR2), easiest suspension to modify, best dimensions, best aftermarket support.
Best safety features for the $$: Adaptive cruise, etc.
There is plenty wrong with the third gen Tacoma, but it is the class leader in many categories very important to mid size truck buyers.
