As I've shared on this board before, I was diagnosed as a Type II diabetic about four years ago. This, despite having none of the indicators for diabetes. Not overweight (6' tall, 170 lbs), run in the evenings, do crossfit 5-6x/week in the mornings, have — and have always had — lower than normal blood pressure. Generally place around the 90th percentile for my age group in Spartan races/5k, etc. I have no family history of diabetes and, thanks to my wife, have eaten a healthier diet than most. Since diagnosis, we've been pretty dang strict. Oooh, what I'd give for a good Cowboy Donut right now, but I'll get a donut maybe every couple months. I'm not saying any of this to brag, or embarrass myself, or whatever, but I really just don't carry any of the markers of a diabetic.
But when I was diagnosed, I had potential coma-inducing levels of blood sugar. And yet, other than being dehydrated and having to urinate every couple hours, I felt just fine.
Every time I see a new dentist/optometrist/other doc, they'll say something like, "how are you a Type 2 diabetic??"
Today, I'm still not feeling any side effects of diabetes — yet. But I know it's a long-term buildup and 10 years from now, if I don't get it under control, I could start springing leaks with vision, nerve, teeth, mind, etc problems.
So there's the background.
I heard about this HYD seminar in Sandy. I actually registered to attend on Tuesday. They say they offer a money-back guarantee if I follow their program and don't get my a1c down to 5.9 or lower. I'd love that. But I suspect they have a VERY narrowly defined definition of following their program as an out. I can't find any real reviews online other than their website, which, of course, has nothing but glowing praise from Jerry M from Texas and Alice D from Illinios.
Have you or anyone you know had any experience with HYD, short for Help Your Diabetes? If there are any reviews I trust, they are from here on Cougarboard. (And I only say that half-jokingly. I've really gotten some good guidance from this board over the years.
