Read this excerpt from the recap, "UNLV took advantage of a fatigued, undersized BYU team early, taking a 26-2 lead at one point in the first half."
I remember it well. I was sitting there with my BYU gear on in the Thomas & Mack. The chants of R E B E L S ringing in my ears. I couldn't believe my eyes. The score had been 2-2, then BYU didn't score another field goal for THIRTEEN MINUTES! It was 28-3 when Wesley finally hit a shot with 6 minutes left in the half. The game was over and it didn't feel like it had even started yet.
It was a lesson in basketball that sometimes the ball just won't go into the basket for your team and the other team seems to make everything. It happens sometimes. It is NEVER OK that it happens. It is not an excuse for the team. It does not help with the pain. It is just a matter of building perspective. Momma always said there'd be days like this.
