My daughter had surgery last month. It was a fairly intense, 4-hour surgery and she was supposed to be in the hospital for 3-4 days of recovery. She ended up having complications that included a second emergency surgery and ultimately led to a 16-day hospital stay. She has been out for about 3 weeks now recuperating and now the fun begins....bills being to arrive.
Luckily I have good insurance that has a relatively manageable max out-of-pocket for me, but the hospital bill alone (room, board, medications, a variety of MRIs, CT scans, etc) was billed at $239,000, that's $15,000 a day. The surgeon's bill was $27,000 and pages of other sundry bills for about another $30,000.
Maybe AOC can fix the problem.
