I'm currently on a phone call going on 2 hours with Nest tech support. I got a new Galaxy S10 today, and was setting up the Nest app to use with my doorbell cam, when I couldn't log in with my email address and any of my usual passwords. I checked to make sure it was the right address, tried to reset the password but never even got the email to do it, then was somehow able to create a new account with the same email address that was used before, but no Nest camera was to be found on the account. Finally, I decided to go look at my old phone that is still on the wifi. It was still logged into the account allowing me to view the doorbell cam. I dove into the account settings to find my camera had been hacked by some tool named Scott Hodge (probably not his real name) with a yopmail throwaway email account as the owner of my camera. My physical address was unchanged. I don't know how I was still able to log into my camera on my old phone, but I could because it didn't as for any login info.
So, here I am, 2 hours later on tech support after having taken pictures of the camera and Costco receipt to prove my ownership. I just finished up, factory reset the camera and it is now attached to my account with 2 step verification added. I don't know what that person could have gotten from my camera other than seeing when packages come, but check out your smart devices!
BTW, nobody yelled at me, too bad.
