Saw Wreck it Ralph 2 last night...(spoilers)
Is it just me or is the message of that movie the exact opposite of the message of the first movie? In Wreck-it Ralph, the movie is all about Ralph learning to love who he is, recognizing his important role in the lives of the other game characters, and accepting his life for what it is. He game jumps, but learns that its a mistake and settles down for his life, finding meaning in his relationships. He shouldn't try to have more than he has, but instead friends are enough. Other characters help him save his original game, and this work is seen as virtuous.

In Ralph breaks the internet, Vanellope's game jumping is portrayed as virtuous dream-seeking (how is that different from Ralph's dream seeking in the first movie?), and Ralph's efforts to help preserve her original game are portrayed as oppressive co-dependent manipulation. Her role in the lives of the other game characters is completely ignored. Her friendships and role in her original game should not be considered enough for her.

Moral of movie 1: Ralph should accept himself for who he is and be okay with being thrown into the mud every day as long as he has friends. Ralph can find meaning in his experiences despite the difficulty of them.

Moral of movie 2: Vanellope shouldn't be expected to accept herself for who she is and be the ruler/princess/favorite character of her game even despite having meaningful relationships inside and outside of the game. She should be allowed to leave her game behind because its hard for her.

Was this strange to anyone else?
