An awesome coach. He consistently overachieves, gets his guys to buy into the system, and the consistently have success. This year is a rebuilding year, and they just won the WCC tournament.

If Rose consistently beat the teams he was supposed to, we would make the NCAA tournament almost every year. But he doesn’t. He loses to UVU. He loses to Weber State. He loses to Illinois State, UNLV, San Diego, San Francisco, Pacific, Loyola Marymount, and Santa Clara.

BYU fans aren’t mad because we don’t beat superior teams. BYU fans are mad because they lose to bad ones. I know, every good team sometimes loses to bad teams. But we lose to a few every single year.

The program is trending down. Recruiting is down, attendance is down, and interest is down. We have the talent to compete with Gonzaga and get an at large bid to the NCAA tournament. But for the past two years we’ve been sitting on the bubble for the NIT. That’s not good enough.
