I wouldn’t pin all of it coaching
A lot of those 3-4 star guys went on missions and have since gotten married. Those are huge factors for an athlete coming out of high school and sometimes the changes will have a negative effect on them as a player.

talented athletes that are coached poorly also appear to suffer from lack of talent. coaching matters.
