How is it then that Nick Emery was a fairly good right-off-his-mission as a
freshmen but has since gotten progressively worse?
How is it that Mika's game got considerably better while he proselyted in Italy?
How come---other than a better FT% and assist rate---Yoeli Childs hasn't progressed at BYU?
In the meantime, athletes at Gonzaga and St. Mary's routinely get better year by year. Missions don't help but---on this board at least----the damage they do is overstated. And, based on the number of 'that's on the player' comments I read, the value of coaching is understated

talented athletes that are coached poorly also appear to suffer from lack of talent. coaching matters.
