I don't know how true it is that he's on a "fast track"

I don't follow the NBA much, so I have no way to judge the merits of that statement. However, assuming it's true, I would think he wouldn't want to consider a college job until he's had a chance to be an NBA coach and either fails at it, or finds out it's not as rewarding as he would have hoped.
