I'll be honest with you - I don't know if that's who he really is, or if it's just an act he puts on for the cameras and attention. But I take him as a lighthearted dude who recognizes he gets paid to describe a game being paid and is just having fun with it.

I though his interactions with the student section at BYU when he was there last year was hilarious - drinking whatever punch it was that they made.

I like how he seems to try to do that wherever he is - just take in the sights and sounds, students and fans.
