I don't feel like the change over my lifetime (1980 - 2010) has been as great as the change that my grandparents' saw over the first 30 years of their lives (1920 - 1950). The invention of antibiotics in 1928 was probably one of the biggest discoveries of the last two centuries. Think about the changes with transportation and communication. While there is incremental growth today, we don't have nearly as many paradigm/transformative things happening today.
It does feel like we're on the cusp of something big with...automation, robotics, artificial intelligence.
