Jimmer is a legend at BYU and in this state. People love and respect him not only for what he did at BYU, but for his class and the person he is.
He obviously hasn’t had the pro career he or any of his fans hoped for. Most probably thought his NBA days were over and that we would never see him play in person again. The fans appreciated the opportunity to see him play in Utah again, maybe for the last time. They cheered him for his perseverance and hard work to get back to the NBA and get another shot.
He is one of the great sports icons of this state. Nothing embarrassing at all about the fans response to him. Quite the opposite in fact.
