question for parents of BYU students living off campus

Do most landlords require 12 month leases now? Back in the day I paid for the months I was there but that is not the case at other universities that I deal with. I can't figure out if this has changed with time or if Provo is unique with 8 month leases. Has it changed in Provo too?

Yes. Most require 12-mo leases, which is why you see a lot of people trying to sub-lease for summer.

Usually, now only the dumpiest places will offer Fall/Winter leases.
