Agreed. But we do need maybe 3-4 annual rivalries to make Indy more fun.
The main probably with football Independence is the lack of rivalries, in my opinion. Notre Dame is an Indy, but they have 3-4 annual, historic rivalries, that make their football season much more fun for their fans. Basically annual rivalries with (1) USC, (2) Stanford, (3) Navy, (4) Purdue / Boston College.
I'd like to see BYU expand on its annual football rivalries. And let's face it, most will be in the MWC. Here is what I think is realistic for BYU.
(1) Utah
(2) USU
(3) Boise
(4) We need a Texas School---and probably won't be Houston or SMU. How about Rice?
(5) Hawaii — (playing them annually gives BYU 13 games every other year).
