7-win teams from last year, who both finished the season very poorly, to be ranked at any point. It could happen, but we all know that when your name is already up there, it's easier to stay up. When you're way down the list trying to fight your way into the rankings, it takes a lot.
You can't start way down the list after a 7-win season, with a trash opening schedule, and expect to be ranked. They would need some huge wins, or start off in a better position.
It would be good to see a few more opponents ranked, but I think we're catching a number of opponents on down years this year. I don't think Washington, Boise, USU, or maybe even Utah will be as good as they were last year. USC is down relative to their powerhouse status. Tennessee is basically always down. SDSU and USF aren't what they were a few years ago. Toledo isn't the Logan Woodside/Kareem Hunt Toledo.
