The main character was an imposter. She was the bad guy. Her “twin”, who appeared from below, was the actual good guy.

So when she came back, why didn’t she say: “you kidnapped me and stole my life and I want my life back”. ?

Also, why did the underground society stay hidden all those years yet they allowed some 10-year-old to go to the surface and kidnap her back in 86?
