I wasn’t there so I can’t say for sure. All I know is that these
people were pretty close to the situation. What’s clear is that he was set to take the BYU job and did a 180 because of serious second thoughts. If the thing with president Oaks did happen, he may have seen the emotional distress Kyle was in over leaving Utah and said something to the effect that Kyle could make a bigger difference in the lives of the Utah players than he could at BYU because he recognized Kyle was not all in with BYU and say how he felt about the Utah players. Who knows.
