Funny thing from my kids field trip to JA City
JA City is a small, city-looking place in downtown Salt Lake. JA stands for "Junior Achievement". They teach the kids all about how to conduct business in the real world. They have a KSL shop, a Zions bank, a computer place, a few others. All the kids get jobs that pay them fake money, which they can use to buy real candy bars.

Anyway, the kids bring their checks to get them deposited, even though the "money" is automatically deposited in their accounts. One of the boys was a teller and created a false deposit of 10,000 bucks, and of course, it worked. His buddy sees that and asks him to do the same for his ID, which he does. This spreads to 5 boys in total. One of those boys then takes his card and starts swiping it all over the city, buying candy bars. He walks around with a full arm load of candy bars and is handing them out like candy (pun intended).

One of the parents asks him where he got his money to buy that kind of loot, and he answers honestly, "Jimmy put a bunch of money in my account." So they go talk to Jimmy and he gets scared and says, "They made me do it". To which the director (now aware of this activity) tells him that in the real world, people will ask you to do things which aren't right.

Apparently the director said this had never happened before. And no, there was no police force jobs to help put Jimmy away. Anyway, no real harm done. The good old days of being a kid again.

Also, criminals are stupid 😉
