This woman's dog had 7 puppies. She did not want the puppies so she put them in a plastic bag and dropped them in a dumpster. In theory they would be dead in minutes, but a witness got suspicious and found the dogs. They tracked down the woman and arrested her.

Probably not the most moral way to handle the situation, but should it be criminal? If she took the puppies to a shelter they would almost certainly be euthanized without all the attention they are getting from the news story.

I know a guy that raises exotic spiders. That weirdo actually LOVES his spiders like a dog owner loves his/her dogs. What if he had some baby spiders by accident and put them in a bag and dropped them in a dumpster? Nobody would care. I might lend a hand and set the dumpster on fire just to be sure.

Whats the relative value of a puppy to a spider? Who decides? Should the spider owner get arrested? Should anyone be arrested for extinguishing the life of an unwanted pet? I don't think so.
