It was a few years ago when the report came out that "this generation" (Gen X at the time), was slower and less athletic than the previous generation as a whole. That was the first time in the history of our nation that that was the case, according to the report.

Fewer and fewer kids are playing varsity sports and also, interest is generally waning among youth. Sure, there have been tremendous advancements in technique and equipment, and there will always be freaks of nature who impress us with both size and strength... the question remains: have we peaked as a nation in the quality of sports? Are future teams going to be less impressive overall?
