What would you think of fining drivers for hitting wildlife on roads?
Obviously, it's bad enough hitting a deer or moose, but the threat of a citation and fine on top of the damage to your vehicle and possible injuries from the accident would be pretty frustrating to go along with it. But would it make drivers more cautious when driving at dusk/dawn/night? Would you slow down during those times if you knew you might be fined for killing wildlife on the road? I think I would.

I think the fines would have to be proportional to the value of the animal (i.e. hitting a moose would cost more than hitting a deer). All revenue from such citations would have to be directed to the state Game and Fish managers to further conserve wildlife or improve highway crossing sites, for me to support such a law.

What do you guys think?
