School safety statistics
In 2017...

The University of Utah reported 696 incidents involving students on or near campus (22 reports per 1000 students).

63% required disciplinary action.
20% Arrests for major crimes.
11% related to possession.
6% violence against women

Of the 696 reports: 93% happened on campus. 2% in SLC, 5% off campus but still on school property.

Brigham Young University... 37 incidents involving students (1 report per thousand students)

24% related to possession.
22% violence against women.
54% Major crime arrests.

Of the 37 reports: 62% happened on campus, 16% happened in Provo/Orem and 21% happened on school affiliated property.

What school do you want to send your kids to?

Note: These numbers are based on school reports AND local police. BYU doesn't show any 'disciplinary' numbers because they don't report those.
