I can see the point you are making.
Absolutely agree another season or shoot even two full 10 episode seasons to end the series would have told the story better.

Still had Jaime go through an arc where he was one of the biggest tools in Westeros, to learning about Honor, finding friendship with an unlikely source, leaving his sister to defend the living, falling in love again, then leaving it all to go save his psycho sister. Just a horrible arc. And it killed the vaunted Volanquar prophecy which they made such a big deal about and what Cersei feared her entire life. It was one of the major reasons she wanted Tyrion executed so badly.

The lack of an Azor Azai return, Jon going from this incredible multi dimensional character to being a one line joke. “I don’t want to be King!”

They spent several seasons showing Arya going from a scared little girl to becoming this incredibly powerful trained assassin with the one goal of killing everyone on her list, and just as she is about to fulfill that and finish off her list, she turns back into the scared little girl from season one??

I could go on and on. This episode capped what is progressively a show that has focused on spectacle at the expense of telling a great story. And it is a shame for all those who invested years of watching it to see it end like this.
