We were just beyond Jacob Hamblin Arch in what I‘ve always heard referred to as “The Cathedral“. Hadn’t seen a cloud all day, but suddenly heard what sounded like ongoing thunder. About two minutes later water went from a trickle to a raging rapid. It was crazy. Plenty of high ground in that spot, so no issues, but back upstream a bit there are plenty of places where you can get squeezed and the next morning there were water marks that showed in some of those tight places it was 10-12 feet high. Crazy.
