I think many on here misunderstand players’ motivation when it
comes to basketball. Contrary to what many believe, Yoeli didn’t grow up dreaming of taking BYU, or any college team for that matter, to the Sweet 16. He grew up dreaming of playing professional basketball. His prospects of playing professionally will be absolutely no different this draft than next irrespective of him playing basketball at BYU one more year. Our fandom often far exceeds the connection an actual player has to the institution. In Yoeli’s mind, BYU basketball is nothing more than a vehicle to play professional basketball. It isn’t that difficult to understand yet us fans have difficulty in understanding it.
