Just read that only 1 of last 6 overall #1 picks in the NBA draft is an American
or at least an American who doesn’t have dual citizenship and play for other countries. Crazy. I had not noticed this at all. Markelle Fultz is the one American in that bunch, plus Karl-Anthony Towns is both Dominican and American.
The others: DeAndre Ayton is from the Bahamas (with a Jamaican mother), Ben Simmons is an Aussie, and Anthony Bennett and Andrew Wiggins are both Canadians. Towns was born to a Dominican mom in the US, has dual citizenship, and plays for the Dominican Republic internationally.
I guess Zion will make it 2 out of 7 in June.
