I don't know if the announcement of their resignation is a cover story for them being fired or not, but it seems to happen more frequently than anywhere else I've worked. Is this common at your company?

Typically if you resign instead of being let go, you don't get unemployment insurance.

It depends. If they pay you for the two weeks then it is still voluntary.

What does it mean to "resign"? I retire, quit, get laid off, or get fired.
