that you’re leaving, so you keep it under wraps for a couple weeks until you inform everyone. That’s how it’s been for me when I’ve left companies as well.

My company seems to have a lot of people "resign" the same day as their last day

Typically if you resign instead of being let go, you don't get unemployment insurance.

It depends. If they pay you for the two weeks then it is still voluntary.

What does it mean to "resign"? I retire, quit, get laid off, or get fired.
